Kei Ota (b. 1988, Japan) grew up in New Jersey. She spent her formative years as a trained ballet dancer and found the extremity of the art draining. However, she realized that neglecting her body after quitting ballet was detrimental and that both dancing and performing would always be necessary interests. She graduated from in 2013 from New York University, where she received a BFA in Studio Art. She is now much happier as a dancer in Stanley Love Performance Group, and also as an artist indulging in various disciplines of painting, sculpture, video and performance. She seeks to capture the ethereal in her painting and work.
