I spent my first 20 years in a suburban region of Kolkata. So there is an obvious reason that my thought process during the starting phase of developing my painting thought and choosing its subject matter is utterly derived from all the suburban culture. Urban anxiety gradually decreased moral values and above all produced a kind of self-erosion of its people, which started annoying me. This is what I try to convey with my paintings for the past three years. As I entered Santiniketan for studio practice I have got a complete new feeling that detachment from nature is the primary reason of these city people’s crisis in any form. All the things city people lack is just a mere touch of nature and by ruining the nature we are ruining ourselves. We are trying to conquer the world by sitting on the very top of the remnants of nature. This is the reason that one can see behind a change in my recent work.
