Tree Study
Ink ,crow-quill and ink wash (23.5x18.5 inches)
It was a Banyan
tree situated in front of my hostel, every time I walked out of the gate, the
tree caught my attention in a picturesque way. the gentle chiaroscuro, the
subtle play of sunshine on the foliage,
the giant vast form, brought in a
sense of majestic glory and seemed very appealing to my eyes. I wanted to catch
its co-existence of simplicity and complications through a palate of greyscale,
applied by fine crow quill and touches of calligraphic washes. I spent over two
months ,sitting under the tree, studying directly from life. It was a
meditative experience.
