Street vendor

Acrylic on Canvas, 2019

Thumbs up to women! It's time to recognize their true greatness. Women are not just equal to men; they are far superior and have always been. Give a woman anything, and she will make it greater. Give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. Give her a house, she'll give you a home. Give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. Give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. A woman multiplies and magnifies whatever she receives. But beware, if you give her any crap, be prepared to receive a ton of shit! - Erik S Gray

Meet Dhan Kumari Limboo, an inspiring woman of 53 years from the enchanting village of Yangtee Kabirthang in west Sikkim. She is a progressive and passionate peasant, catering to many members of her family. Through her hard work and dedication, she earns a remarkable fifty to sixty thousand rupees by selling organic vegetables, dairy products, and fruits at the bustling Geyzing hatt.
Have you ever pondered the immense sweat and daily grind of every woman for her family? It's time to acknowledge their relentless efforts.
I have chosen to carve out Dhan Kumari's portrait to honor her incredible contributions. This artwork signifies not only the folk culture of our region but also pays tribute to the passionate women in every household and society. They tirelessly work to create a beautiful environment in which we thrive.
For ages, women have been managing households, effectively handling budgeting, accounts, finance, taxation, purchasing, and human resources. The financial wheels of many households have been guided by the expertise and determination of these incredible women.
Amidst this, the women street vendors come alive. They work tirelessly to secure their family's livelihoods, steadfastly navigating the intricacies of the financial circuit. It is their stories that inspire me to create this art, showcasing their resilience and strength.
Join us in celebrating the indomitable spirit of the resilient street vendor. Let's acknowledge the daily grind, sweat, and extraordinary efforts of women everywhere. This is our heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes, who, through their unwavering dedication, shape the world we live in.
Power on, women! You are the true driving force of progress and change.
