Camella DaEun Kim, born in South Korea was raised in Toronto, Canada studying Visual Arts and Media, Information & Technoculture. Before moving to Los Angeles to complete her MFA at University of California, Los Angeles in Design|Media Arts, Kim’s works have been incorporating narrative, but weaving layers of meaning which questions the importance of communication. Also she is interested in how identity (both as an individual and cultural context) is formed by creating deliberate misunderstanding and miscommunication through intentional mistranslation, manipulation, and distortion of both verbal and non-verbal elements.
