Pranay Dutta works at the intersection of gaming, digital environments, found footage, sound and computer generated imagery. His work deals with spaces devoid of human presence employing a heightened sense of absentia. An under-construction building or an abandoned train station become subjects of introspection, inspired by apocalyptic themes and aesthetics prevalent in video games and uses this language to explore the liminal space between art and non-art. Dutta was invited to be a part of the Khoj International workshop, Goa (2017) and is currently gearing for a spate of shows in early 2018 inclusive of Turn Of the tide curated by Khoj International Artists’ Association, New Delhi. His recent exhibitions include Horizon against nature at Gallery OED, Fort Kochi and Preview at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda.
