As a photographer I’m a historian thus the work I produce will be rooted in research. That research can be an analysis on self or the external. I can explore the past in order to see how it has governed the present and speculate how it will the effect the future. I can bring attention to an existence that seemed to be forgotten or construct an alternative for what previously happened. Photography possesses aspects of design such as composition with space, line, shape, form, texture, color and pattern. These essential components direct one to discover unique ways of portraying a message with consideration of the research, thought, aesthetic, and technical quality. Through my work I hope is to educate, inspire, foster dialogue, and bridge gaps in communication. I hope to also be a voice for those of the African continent, those that comprise her Diaspora, and those that are women in the arts.
