Chelsea Coon is an artist and writer. Her works examine beginnings and endings, phases, and the way in which the body on an elemental level is rooted to space. Coon has exhibited extensively in galleries and festivals across North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, notably in London, Tokyo and Sydney among others. She is the author of 'No One Thing is the Root of All Anything: Phases and Performance of the Imminent' (Los Angeles: Not a Cult, 2018). Her recent essay “You Always Hurt the One You Love: Power Exchange Through Contractual Subjugation” will be included in 'Rated RX: Sheree Rose with and after Bob Flanagan' ed. Dr. Yetta Howard (Columbus: Ohio State University Press, 2019) in collaboration with ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archive. Coon received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012 from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts in 2014 from Tufts University, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Theatre,​ ​Performance​ ​and​ ​Contemporary​ ​Live​ ​Arts in 2015 from the University​ ​of​ ​Applied​ ​Sciences​ ​and​ ​Arts’ ​Scuola​ ​Teatro​ ​Dimitri in Switzerland. She contributes writing to various domestic and international publications. Coon is the Art Director of FUCK ALL Performance Festival and is the recipient of the Rose Hill Performance Art Award, Yousuf Karsh Prize in Photography and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant. She lives and works in the United States.
