I am a 23 year old self taught British-Nigerian artist, and I use my paintings to visually journal my emotions as I embrace the world of adulting. Whilst my pieces are created more for self-reflection and release, a welcomed by-product is others being able to relate to their subject, or be positively influenced by my thought processes. My interpretation of 'Calling Across the Distance' looks at the relationship between my western British identity and my African identity. A few weeks ago I travelled to Africa, Ghana for the first ever time, and now that I'm back home in England, I'm exploring how Africa is calling me across the distance to return via my memories and emotions.
