The Wave

Affected by the sight of my environment, I have painted "The Wave"  series, where common peasants
are portrayed with their mortifying journey. These works depict heart- wrenching sights, where migrant
labourers are imprisoned with their pain and agitation, reshaping and accommodating their situation
in search of happiness. This distressed reality has its presence on my canvas in a socio-metaphorical
pattern that includes narrative figures, emotion, expression and the aesthetics of daily life
with gestures reflecting the social and political shapes of the society.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kolkata-based artist Samiran Dey is an accomplished painter whose work has been exhibited
throughout India and included in several online international exhibitions. He received
Certificates of Merit in Painting and Photography from the Indian College of Art and Draftmanship,
where he earned a BFA in Painting. He went on to study at Rabindra Bharati University
and received an MFA in Painting in 2020.
