I see the swan image as an image with sexual and gender representation. Think of Zeus that transform to a swan in order to seduce....or the phalli neck of the swan....also you can see the swan image as a representation of a delicate feminine beauty....(like in the famous swan lake)
I feel that the swan is a perfect representation of an androgynous creature there for he combines both values of feminine and masculine . It defy the concept of gender divination that is a big part of west and patriarch society in which we live in
