This work is allegorical of John 3:8. Amidst the plenteous harvest with yet a few labourers here in Polokwane, of South Africa, it boldly affirms that the movement and operation of the Spirit of God is not less perceptible in the renewal of man than the motion of the air in this earthly and outward life. Yes, the wind blows wherever it lists, maybe like a readily raised fist, but the manner of it is concealed. Therefore, we would seem the negative of the emotion of which I have chosen to portray through these two lads, that is; ungrateful and malicious, if we do not adore the inconceivable power of God in the heavenly, of which we behold so striking an exhibition meanwhile in this world.

Exploring the role of Christianity in mental and political oppression in colonialism. Supported with video material challenging the western representation of God. I aimed to create a satirical image mimicking a sort of ‘Mother Mary and Baby Jesus’ as we would see in western religious culture. The project aims to question African church culture which more often than not, is just a copy of western churches. Have we, black Africans, accepted white Jesus as our own, or are we still on the search for black Jesus?

Exploring the emotional violence towards women perpetuated by the media. I wanted to present the woman as an object being both on a pedestal and in a prison. Expectations of how a woman can look turns in self-doubt and self- deprecation (violence towards self), which changes how we treat our children and how we expect other women to look. We become judgmental and subconsciously continue to perpetuate the message from the media (violence towards others). The circle represents this continuous cycle

The INSIDE OUTSIDE series is being developed with these kinds of works. Dealing with different kind of spaces allows me to arrange or rearrange sometime various spaces. Here space means not only the space of interior or outdoor space but also I mean object as space. In this work, multiple space handling is the prime concern for me by re-establishing or rearranging them as a mode of space. This painting also carries the essence of inside-outside where the viewer can move from outside to inside and the same time inside to outside as well.
