Ebyakayisali
Aluminum printing plate and copper wires (variable lengths)
“Ebya kayisaali” which is translated from Luganda as what belongs to Caesar. This piece of work was inspired by the unfair introduction of social media tax in Uganda
and the burning of some music which are said to be political from playing on radios and television. All this is represented in this piece in four pieces: a radio, a ripped
cassette tape to signify the burned music, money, and a newspaper (made out of stitched aluminum printing plate with copper wires). This piece of composition is
a representation of societal objects and unfair taxation levied on Ugandans in the move to infringe on the freedom of expression
and speech on social media and media in general.
