A painting created in 4 day workshop at NEZCC, Dimapur, Nagaland. In creating this artwork, I intentionally focused in a specific facet of Sikkimese culture, recognizing that it offers only a fleeting glimpse into the vast and diverse culture that unfolds across its region. In this painting, my intention was to capture a glimpse of Sikkimese culture and its unique beauty. The Sikkimese woman at the center of the canvas, with her eyes gently closed, embodies a sense of serenity and introspection. She is adorned in the traditional jewelry and attire that have been cherished for generations, a testament to the enduring customs of Sikkim.

The Dhaka background, with its vibrant colors and intricate patterns, serves as a visual representation of the rich traditions of the region. It adds depth and a sense of cultural richness to the composition.

The inclusion of the rhododendron, the state flower of Sikkim, is a nod to the natural beauty of the Himalayan region and the unique connection between culture and environment. It symbolizes the harmonious relationship that exists between the Sikkimese people and their surroundings.

Surrounding her head with a golden background was a deliberate choice to evoke a sense of divinity and spirituality. It highlights the inner radiance and strength that can be found within individuals who are deeply rooted in their culture and surroundings.

In this painting, I aimed to celebrate Sikkim's cultural diversity, natural beauty, and the deep connection that used to exist between its people and their environment. It's my hope that this artwork resonates with viewers and conveys the profound beauty of Sikkimese culture.
